this is the day of Sumpah Pemuda for Indonesian. a once glorious event, uniting Indonesian citizen under the pride of our nationality.

but today, 28th October, this event turned out to be the blackest Sumpah Pemuda day that I could remember. 

because we’ve been betrayed by our very own governments, right in this (supposed to be) special day.

Indonesian people, especially animal lovers, animal welfare organizations, activists, volunteers, have been working hard to stop Palembang local authorities from killing stray dogs and cats for the preparation of SEA Games. 

after a couple days of criticism, negotiations, and public attentions, the governments agreed to stop this brutal action…

only to betray their commitment, in less then 24 hours after the initial agreement. 

they broke our heart. we were stunned, by how merciless our governments are. 

they betray us.
